HOW THE CENTRAL REPTILE REHOME NETWORK OPERATES
The Central Reptile Rehome Network is split into two main subjects:
Networking & Collaboration between rescues, sanctuaries and rehabs in the UK.
&
Promoting and educating rescue setting welfare, which aids the wider reptile community and gives trust to the public.
NETWORKING & COLLABORATING
The Network uses a range of structured digital tools to improve communication, transparency, and collaboration between genuine welfare-led reptile rescues, organisations, and the public. Alongside social media outreach and direct communication channels, the Network operates shared Google Sheets that allow participating rescues to access and update key information in real time. This includes a Network Directory that provides clear contact details and operational information for trusted rescues, as well as a live capacity status system that helps identify which rescues currently have space available. An integrated emergency board is also used to highlight urgent welfare cases that require immediate placement or support. Together, these tools create a coordinated framework where information moves quickly, resources can be shared efficiently, and welfare-focused organisations can work together to ensure reptiles in need are directed to the most appropriate help.
GOOGLE SHEETS
Using Google Sheets allows the Network to manage and share important information in real time across multiple rescues and organisations. Because it is cloud-based and easily accessible, approved members can update capacity, contact details, and welfare cases instantly, ensuring everyone is working with the most current information. This improves coordination, reduces delays when responding to animals in need, and helps maintain a transparent and organised system across the Network.
DATA COLLECTION
The CRRN collects data in regards to reptiles being surrendered and being rehomed.
Surrendered is split into two categories: re-home and rescue (emergencies)
